The client wanted to renovate their kitchen and add more space by converting the existing pantry. One of their goals was to switch from a gas range and dryer to electric, anticipating future 100% solar power supply. To achieve this, we demolished all walls and ceilings and added a 100-amp subpanel on the second floor to power the electric range and dryer. We used rigid conduit and separated circuits for kitchen appliances to enhance safety.
Energy efficiency was a key requirement for this project, so we insulated all exterior walls with closed-cell spray foam. The pantry was removed to accommodate additional cabinetry and enclose the fridge. For the cabinets, we combined an IKEA framework with custom-made panels to create a modern design. We used soapstone countertops to contrast with the backsplash and cabinets. Additionally, the client restored metal cabinets, which were seamlessly integrated into the design.
